Well, its that time of the year again. Cheers to all the bullshit posts we’re about to see about #newyearnewme, all the pictures and all the memes. I must admit, I haven’t seen as much bs as I normally do when it comes to resolutions for 2017. Maybe everyone has decided to just wing 2017, I mean why not? Trump winged his presidential campaign and look where it got him! I mean seriously, between President Obama and President elect Trump, if we haven’t learned anything, it should be that anything is possible. I, however, enjoy creating resolutions/ goals. It helps me stay focused on getting things done. Although I may not reflect on my goals daily or even monthly, they pretty much set the tone for my year.
I’ve found that I enjoy breaking my goals down into groups and I try to make 2-5 goals for each category:
- Financial
- Educational
- Physical
- Social
If you were unaware, I completed my Master’s degree in business in August of 2015. Fortunately, I will be scratching the educational component off of my goal list. Don’t get me wrong, I try to learn stuff all the time, but my formal education is OVER.
2017 Financial Goals
Financial Independence: my goal for 2017 is to move in the direction to becoming self-sufficient. I have reached a point in my life, where I have realized that I no longer have a desire to work for anyone. It’s not me, it’s them. I am SOOOOOOOO tired of working with supervisors that are disrespectful, jealous, spiteful or just plain under-qualified for the position they hold. Anyways, I once read that the average millionaire has 7 different sources of income. Some may believe that I should I should focus on one thing, meanwhile, I’m of the belief that I can do many things at once! Below is a list of what I have so far:
- Blog
- Start business that doesn’t need to be managed
- The Haus of Hair- Human hair extension company, e-commerce coming soon
- Investment property
Unfortunately, I am still working on the other 3. Really, the goal here is to find ways to make money while I sleep. So long as the money I make depends upon how many hours I am able to work, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to accumulate wealth.
2017 Physical Goals
- Hair: I always want my hair to grow moreJ 2017, I would like to continue to focus on healthy hair. My hope is to take my followers/ readers on that journey with me. I plan to upload collages and videos to my beauty page on here because I am sure my sister naturalista’s are waiting!
- Weight: though my S/O enjoys these extra pounds I seem to have gained overnight, I do not. I plan to come up with a work out schedule/ better eating plans for 2017. At the very minimum, I would like to determine how much money I spent on fast food in 2016 and cut that in half, that should be a good start!
- Make Up: Continuing to practice my craft and perfecting it. Though I believe I do an okay job right now, I would still like to learn more about make up, why different make up works better for different skin etc. Additionally, I would like to learn about how to take better care of my skin.
- Wardrobe: I am always looking for ways to spruce up my wardrobe, it always appears to be lacking. I’m not really sure what to do about it, but I’m pretty sure it is getting revamped in 2017.
2018 Social Goals
- Travel More: Regardless of it is cheap road trips, train trips to local cities or random flights to Miami, I still would like to travel. If for nothing else, to build my brand. It is my hope that in 2017 The HAUS of Hair will become a national brand and everyone will know that my company exists.
- Become Instagram popular: cheesy I know, but I figure the more people that know about me on Instagram, the more visitors I get to my blog, and to my hair company website. Many people under estimate the importance of social media in branding, but not I.
- S/O: continue to grow in my relationship. I pretty much have the best boyfriend ever. I just want to make sure that I am keeping him as a major part of my life. He is my partner in so much of what I do. I just want to be sure that I am always appreciating him and growing in our relationship
- Family: In the past few years, I have lost many members of my family through no fault of my own. I just want to do a better job of spending time with my family. Because when someone passes I often find myself wishing I had spent more time with him/ her.
- Friendships: Maintaining and growing in the friendships that I already have and being open to more. My friends (the few that I have) are awesome and very good to me, even though I sometimes don’t deserve it. I take my friends for granted, A LOT. And I don’t want to do that in 2017.
So yea, that’s it. This is a pretty decent overview of my goals for 2017. Do you bother with New Year’s Resolutions/ Goals? Why or why not? Comment below!
