The L.O.C. method. Have you heard it or saw it on posts and wondered what the heck it is? Well, never fear, Mick B is here! The L.O.C. method is probably the most popular wash day method out there. Mostly because it allows for so much customization. So here’s the breakdown:
L: Leave in conditioner/ Liquid (water)

O: Oil

C: Cream

As you can assume, you can use any brand product that you would like for this method. In order to optimize your results, it is suggested that you use each of these products in order. First apply your leave in, then your oil and lastly your cream. You should apply the product from the root to the ends. This is done to maximize moisture retention. Moisture retention is very important because hair that is dry tends to break off. Although our hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month, you may find yourself having to cut as much, if not more off. This is sometimes due to dry ends or dry hair, period.
Leave In
Leave in is a must have for any naturalista if she desires to preserve her hair. Leave In is used to strengthen, hydrate and moisturize your hair. Leave in conditioner is helpful because it continues to condition your hair after it is applied, it can be used as a heat protectant, and it is awesome for detangling.
Oil
Oil is used after the leave in conditioner to help seal in the moisture. You should use a small amount because no one likes super oily hair! You should research to determine what type of oil you should use based on the porosity of your hair.
Cream
The final step in the L.O.C. method is to apply cream from the root to the shaft of the hair. A butter based cream is recommended to further help in sealing the moisture into your hair. Cream provides your hair with more definition and shine for your curls.
For some, this is the end of their wash day routine, but unfortunately for me, my hair struggles holding a curl. I tend to add a styling lotion or a styling gel to my hair.
That’s it! It’s fairly simple and it is a routine that can easily be incorporated into your wash day routine with products you probably already have at home. Do you have any wash day routines that you like to use? If so, let me know below, I’m looking to try some new things, my natural hair is becoming a little boring. 😦
