9 REASONS I’LL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THE 2020 COVID-19 QUARANTINE

  1. TIME TO REFLECT ON WHAT I REALLY WANT IN LIFE– I have spent time writing in my journal. I have been asking myself some tough questions, what do I want, what makes me happy, what do I need to get there?
  2. GAVE ME TIME TO WORK OUT- i ran a bagillion 50 miles in the month of April alone
  3. MORE TIME TO GET INTO THE WORD AND GET CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD– I’ve been attending Sunday Church via live stream more frequently and talking to my friends about the word. I’ve also spent some time reading the bible on my own and I feel like I’m learning more about Jesus, God, and what he wants and needs from us.
  4. HELPED PROPEL MY DEBT PAY OF JOURNEY EVEN FURTHER BECAUSE I COULDN’T GO OUT AND SPEND MONEY.. – Although I wasn’t planning to spend much money this year anyway, I found it more reassuring that I literally couldn’t go anywhere. I’m not a big online shopper/ I don’t eat fast food too often because I only eat fish/seafood.
  5. A BREAK FROM FOMO– FEAR OF MISSING OUT- If the whole nation is closed, then no one is outside living their best lives.
  6. TIME TO RELAX…– I found this to be most difficult of all. I feel bad for lounging around or sleeping in. I even caught myself setting my alarm to 6:30- 6:45 am to go on a run… that never happened lol
  7. ADDED HOURS TO MY LIFE– We spend an hour getting ready for work, one hour traveling to work (at least somewhere near this amount in Houston), that is at least 2 hours of my day. Plus the trek back home/ decompressing , changing/ showering… That brings my total to at least 4 hours a day. Over the course of a week, that’s about 20 hours of our lives that we waste. Over the course of 12 weeks, that’s rougly 12 days being added back to my life!
  8. MORE TIME TO TALK TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY- I could Facetime/ talk on the phone to friends and family more often through out the day.
  9. TIME TO APPRECIATE THE FREEDOM: There are women, people of color/ certain religions that are unable to do what they want to do on a day to day basis. There are wrongfully accused people sitting in jail right now, or people in jail on trumped up charges. We say oh that’s no big deal, or worse, it’s not even a thought in our mind about situations like this. Never mind, my ancestors who survived brutal circumstances. I will be forever grateful for the freedoms that are given to me. It’s a great reminder that what you have isn’t promised tomorrow. Not even something as assumed as your freedom.
