Hey guys. I bet you can’t guess what this post is about… Ha!
Honesty moment: I was thicker than a snicker for most of 2017. I’m not exactly sure when it happened… I know I was all happy and in a serious relationship for most of 2016… I like to blame my weight gain on happiness.
BACKGROUND
For most of my career in law enforcement, I’d been afraid of weight gain. They always said that female officers gain a lot of weight once getting on the force. I’m happy to say that I was able to maintain a proper weight of 125lbs from October 2012 until March or April of 2016. See at first it was great. I was a little ‘thick’ and I was happy about it! But eventually, 135 turned to 140.. 140 turned to 145… and then I quit my job in January of 2017 and 145 turned to 155.. and then again to 160 by May of 2017.
No Red Meat
I couldn’t find it in myself to workout consistently.. or to eat right. Then in May, I challenged myself to give up pork and beef… this is where it all started. By simply giving up beef and pork, I managed to lose 4 lbs from May 1st- August 1st. That may not sound like a lot, but to lose 4-5 pounds and to keep it off was an achievement for me.
NO MEAT
Then came phase two. As I became more knowledgeable about the meat industry I decided that I really didn’t want to consume any meat. Around the end of July beginning of August, I’d challenged myself to stop eating meat all together. Let. Me. Tell. Y’all… The transition was not an easy one. I either starved… or I ate French fries. I’d never really been one to eat veggies.. so this was very difficult for me. I was very lost in life.

Thankfully, I finally figured it out. I’d be happy to share some of my recipes with you all in a future post if you’re interested, but this isn’t what this post is about (ha ha!) By the end of October, I was happily down to 143 pounds… but y’all…. I STILL LOOKED chubby! Ugh. I just wasn’t happy with my body. I’m still not really happy with my body, but as of October 15th, I started working out with a trainer.
I did a 4 week jump start package with a trainer which included 3 work outs a week. Im pretty sure I died and came back to life. Getting back into working out after being out of the game for over a year was so hard… so painful.. but so worth it. I always said that I’d never pay for a trainer unless I was fat… but here I was …. fat. I must say, that was the best money I’ve ever spent. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t like I didn’t know what to do in the gym. I just needed to feel obligated to workout and something about paying someone nearly 100 a week gave me the motivation that I needed.
So that’s it… after my 4 week jumpstart package, I’ve been remaining consistent and working out 2-3 times a week. I do resistance training, cardio and weight training. Since I’ve started working out, I’ve stopped worrying about how much I weigh and started focusing mores on how my body looks and I must say, I’m admiring the changes that are coming :).
I still have work to go, but I have faith that in the next few months, the revenge body will be amazingggg. Did you lose any weight last year? If so, how did you do it? I’ve still got a few pounds I’d like to shed and any input would be sincerely appreciated!
